How do you fm?

Come hear a panel of professionals talk about the responsibilities of managing different types of facilities and various avenues of how they became involved in the always advancing industry of Facility Management. The panel will describe the different roles and responsibilities at various facilities including Higher Education, Medical, Office/Banking and Museums. It will be on campus at CNM (room TBD) with free attendance and lunch for students. Meet and talk to professionals in the industry and take this opportunity to discover the exciting future of the industry. 

Students of CNM, UNM or any trade school and high school in New Mexico that are interested in learning about the Facility Management profession are encouraged to attend with FREE Admission!

Panelists:

Pete Mora
Director M&O
Central New Mexico Community College
Pete Mora has 25 + years of experience in grounds and maintenance and facility maintenance. He is the current Director of Maintenance and Operations at Central New Mexico Community College where he oversees Maintenance and Operations for all CNM Campuses. Previously, he was the Director of Engineering for the Hyatt Corporation where he oversaw grounds and facility maintenance for multiple properties.

Stewart Livsie
Associate Director, Capital Projects 
UNM Health Sciences
Stewart Livsie is a Project and Facilities Manager with over fifteen years of experience in the construction and healthcare sectors.  He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and currently serves as the Associate Director of Capital Projects for the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Previously, he led the Plant Operations department for the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center for over ten years, which provides a wide array of facility support services in healthcare and research settings.  Stewart is a licensed General Building (GB-98) and Master Mechanical (MM-98) Contractor in the State of New Mexico. In addition, he also holds the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP) credentials, and was named to IFMA’s 40 under 40 in 2020.

Peter Romero
Director of Facilities

Peter is a lifelong New Mexican, born and raised in Espanola, NM.  He has worked in many capabilities in facilities management including a laboratory specializing in Genetics. He has also worked in higher education, managing several collages in many states as well as managed a healthcare facility.  Currently he works for a tribal entity managing facilities. Including everything from a casino, mobile home village, movie studio, buildings for business and a gas station.  

Ian Stokes
Facility Manager
Explora
Ian's background is in janitorial and housekeeping work. He started out his FM career at New Mexico Sports & Wellness in July of 2018, after two years as the housekeeping lead. He spent four years as the FM at three different locations. He left S&W for the opportunity to join the team at Explora Children's Museum and moved into the FM position about six months ago.

Cancellations after four days of the event or no-shows, will not receive a refund.
